Ten Steps to configure your Wireless Router

I recently  bought a new belkin wireless router. Before that I was using Beetel cable modem. The problem with it was only one computer can connect to it. So thought of switching from wired to wireless connection. If you don’t want to buy a wireless router however still want to use your cable modem as wireless one read this post.
World’s best tip to use your cable modem as wireless one.

Let’s start configuring our wireless router.

1) Before actually configuring the router we need to do some changes to the connections. Our cable modem will connect to wireless router and a cable from wireless router will be connected to our computer.Earlier it was cable modem directly connected to computer.

2) You must know the address for configuring your router and modem.By default most of the cable modem default configuration IP is 192.168.1.1  and for wireless router it is 192.168.2.1.

3) Login to cable modem first and do your settings for PPPoE.You need to enter your username and password. If you don’t know these credentials , you may have to ask your ISP for it.

4) Login to your wireless router and goto 192.168.2.1 and enter your login credentials. If you are logging in for first time , you can leave the password as blank.

5) Goto Connection Type and select the protocol applicable to you. It can be Static IP or PPPoE.You need to ask your ISP for more details.

6) If it is PPPoE, then you can put the same credentials which you entered while configuring your cable modem for PPPoE. However if it is static then you need to ask your ISP for Default Gateway and DNS IP.

7) After this configuration , you can see wireless light glowing in your wireless router. Now you can remove the cable from laptop and you can use wireless network.

8 ) Once the set up is done , you need to connct to a wireless network with your router name like belkin AXXX etc. Once connected it will ask you to go through few simple steps for creating a new network and set new password for that connection.

9) Once done you can connect to the wireless network created using the password you mentioned.

10) Enjoy your wireless network now.

Feel free to ask any query or any problem you face during installing of wireless router.
