Video Call on Airtel 3G
It’s been some time since Airtel launches its 3G services in Karnataka circle. So I thought of testing video call today.Believe me guys, it is good and worth trying. If your telecom operator has launched 3G services in your circle make sure you give it a try.I have tested 3G services via Airtel.I will be sharing the procedure I followed in order to use video call on Airtel 3G.To use Airtel 3G, you must have 3G activated on your number. To activate 3G on your number you can call customer care 121 and raise request for activating Airtel 3G on your number.Call charges are 50 paise per 3 minutes. Before calling 121 , I tried sending sms 3G and 3G HELP to 121.However I did not receive proper response. The reply was “We are unable to process your request. Please try later.”
So I thought of calling 121 and raised a request for activating 3G on my number. There is no cost for activating 3G .So I suggest everyone to at least have 3G activated on your number. As per Airtel Customer Care, 3G activation takes 4 hours however in my case it was around 16 hours. You will receive confirmation message stating that Airtel 3G has been activated on your number.Few setting which you need to do before actually using Airtel 3G services.
I am using Nokia N series so sharing the configurations required for using 3G services.Goto Settings–>Network. In Network mode ,you have two options GSM & Dual Mode.Select Dual Mode and save it.Now goto Operator selection.Select Manual and after network search select Airtel 3G.That’s it.Switch off your phone and restart it.If 3G is activated on your number , you will be able to see 3G icon below Network Signal Strength indicator on your mobile phone.
You are ready for Video Call.Try calling someone who is also having 3G activated on his number.Call charges for 3G video call is 5paise/second i.e. 3INR/min. There are several packages for internet usage and default is volume based usage with charges same as 2G with 30paise/20kb.Although I have not tried it but as per Customer Care you can achieve internet speed up to 4Mbps using Airtel 3G.

What I understand is that you still don’t have 3G services activated on your mobile or you may have selected 2G network. Can you see 3G signal on your mobile ? or you can call and ask customer care to confirm if it is active on your number.
